Since Greg's thread was hijacked, I'm restarting it again here in this forum...is anyone seeing pictures showing them which messages aren't read? I don't really see anything, so I'm not sure that this option is turned on yet...

It never looks any different to me. The icon is supposed to change I think, but it doesn't for me.

Not the answer I was looking for when I went to their help forums, but it seems the only way to mark messages read right now is to click the button above once you have read everything...

Mine have smiley faces next to the topic if that is counted as mark when read.
It still brings up everying though even though I says show new only.

The link from above states that in its current form, you can only mark an item as read by clicking on the mark forum read link at the top. It won't show read until you do that no matter how many times you look at something. They did say in another post that they are trying to come up with a better solution, but this is all they can offer at this time. I also haven't tested this yet to see if they track this server side or if they plant a cookie on your pc to track the read status. I guess I will find out tonight!

The smilies are something I added today since the old icon they had wasn't as obvious (to me anyway) that there was a new posting. It makes me smile

Here's a bit of info that might make people happy. I'm using this from home this morning, and all the forums are still marked as read. So it's not just a cookie on a single computer.

It makes me very happy that you were using this from home! Anyone else?

Jon I really like the new pic you have for the new messages. I feel the triangle is much easier to see. Can you change it for the General Discussions topic?

I'm using this from home. I absolutely refuse to use it form work. I abhore the idea; I think it morally wrong to use this forum from work...

...when you don't have a job

I just figured something out (pardon my slowness if this is old news and I just couldn't interpolate the above). By clicking on the "Mark ALL forums read" link on the front page it removes all the 's from the forums that you have read. I initially thought it just marked them all read (regardless of whether or not you actually read them) so that you could just read the new stuff the next time you popped in. I'm starting to get the hang of this here thang. Hey, did you know they have the internet on computers now?

GREAT FIND Luc! But when I clicked on mark ALL read......as strange as this may sound ......it marked ALL of them read not just the ones I had read.

If you click the Mark All Read after you read all of the posts on the boards, then you are safe (ie Luc), if you click the Mark All Forums Read thinger before you read some, then you miss out on some of the fast paced action (greg). You can click the one in each forum after you read them and it will clear all of the smiles in that forum and not affect the other forums. I like that option!

It just did the same for me, Greg. The first time I clicked it, it only left two smilies and they were for messages I know I hadn't read. Alas, now it seems to be working the way I originally thought it would Sucko...any other guesses?
