I recommend in your proifle setting it to not notify you everytime you have a reply to your message and setting it to notify you when you receive a private message.

You now have a private message mailbox that works for anyone on the board. Your capacity is 50 messages in your inbox at a time.

Please list any other thoughts, questions or wishes for the future! This is the beginning of rebuilding the board and we have full control over it this time! There are a few mods in place for oclors of text and clock at the bottom of the page. Yell if you see another must have out there!

I dont see how to mark a forum read or even tell if a forum has unread messages in the first place. Help

Forums are automatically marked read when you look at them. If you hit the back button, you won't see the icon to the left go from gold to white, but the next time you click a link to view the forums at the top or hit refresh, you will see the icons go white!

More Clarification:
When you edit a post, it doesn't typically mark unflagged again for some reason.

When you look at a multiple page post, let's say the last page has the new posts you haven't read and you open the first page, the last page will get marked read. There is a mod out there to resolve this, it's a big one and I'm working up the nerve to get it to work...more likely now that the migration tool worked!

There is a button at the top of each forum to mark it read, handy for the first time you login here!

Most importantly, the member list counts your private forum posts now! :D

Awesome. Now I want to complain the other way. What if I don't want a thread marked read. Lets say there are 20 posts and I only read the first 7 or 8.

That mod will take care of that...getting me to apply the mod is a whole other issue though! Took over two months to get the converter going, I think you can expect the read messages fix to be in some time around Thanksgiving! :P

None of mine are yellow on the side. First time logged in, and they are all white. I guess we'll see in the future if it works for me.

Okay, now they are yellow. Everything is good in the world again. 8)

Also, I really like how it automatically marks the pages as read. Very cool.

ps- edits don't show up as edits. Don't know if that's good or bad.

pps- Hey I just realized that my post counter isn't going up. All three posts on this page have the same number! :x

Hooray for phpbb! :D Much more user friendly here guys, once you get used to it. Eddie, in this bb your post count increments on every post you've ever made - that may account for why you're seeing them all as the same. Also, the edit notation is customizable on Pon's end. On one board I frequent you can edit for up to two minutes after you post with no notation (for typo fixes) and then from two minutes to 30 minutes with notation. After 30 minutes the post is set in stone (except mods have the ability to modify/delete). Another one I visit allows editing forever, and puts the edit tag at the bottom regardless of when you do it.

Kudos to you, Pon, on getting us converted! Me likes!

Thanks for the info Luc! The default is 24 hours it seems. I will see what I can do to get it cut back some. Like Luc said, the info is updated globally. I didn't think that applied to post counts though, will have to see how to get around that because the other board I have on phpbb shows the count as of each post. Stuff like sigs and avatars update globally when you change them though!

In general, I actually prefer everyting to update globally - gives you the most up-to-date info on the poster regardless of where you are in the forum. Not really a big deal here as there isn't much traffic, we all know each other, etc.

I increased the size of that avatar that you can post. That is the only thing I can think of at this time that would have prevented your from submitting your own. Try it out and let me know! Still can't figure out the edit time option. Think I may go check out the support forums for ideas on that one!

This is their claim, someone will have to give it a shot!

"edited by" appears when a user/admin/moderator edits his own posting after someone has replied. It does not appear when admins/moderators edit postings of other users.

Edit: Added the edit info

Testing edit claim

Yep! It's true, whenever a message has been replied to, it starts tracking your edits to the message!

Whatever you did seems to have fixed it. I made sure I had it sized properly the first time (both dimensionally and file size) but I was still getting errors. They were errors in code at the top of the screen as if the server was puking after I hit submit. Whatever, check out the cute butt in my av...
